Bagahangai District was first established in 1989 as Bagahangai District of Ulaanbaatar City, and then expanded into a remote district of the capital, with 2 administrative districts and a population of 3,645 in 750 households. The total number of animals is 10774.
Bagahangai district is 90 km southeast of Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia, with an area of 14,000 km2 at an elevation of 1,614 meters above sea level. It is bordered by Sergelen Sum of Central Province in the northwest and Bayan Sum in the east and south. It is one of the remote districts of the capital.
In the district, there are 14 budget organizations, 4 capital-owned industrial departments, 11 LLCs, 2 cooperatives, and 2 partnerships, and a total of 33 organizations and enterprises are operating and forming centralized and local tax budget plans.
Bagahangai district is connected to Ulaanbaatar city by 107 km of railway and 90 km of paved black road. 15.0-16.4 tons of cargo are transported by rail at the railway station and 3.7-4.1 million tons of transit cargo are transported by an average of about a million passengers. It is a 2nd class station.
The main source of energy in the district is electricity. It has a 200.0 km long power transmission line of 35.0 kW and 4 substations with a capacity of 2,500 kW. It sells 160 million MNT annually.
The district is connected to the fibre optic cable laid along the Mongolian railway, and it receives television programs through the Intelsat system with a power of 10 watts, fully capable of using ATS and GSM mobile phones.
