The 2nd meeting of the Government Task Force on Air Pollution Reduction, Infrastructure Development Projects and Measures in the Capital City of Ulaanbaatar, chaired by the Prime Minister of Mongolia, was held. At the meeting, the Governor of the Capital City and Mayor of Ulaanbaatar, Kh. Nyambaatar, presented major projects to be implemented in the capital city in the coming years.
Nine major projects will be implemented in Ulaanbaatar to reduce congestion, six to reduce air pollution, and eight in other areas. Specifically, projects to reduce congestion include metro, tram, new ring road, Tuul highway, special road buses, multi-level intersections, suspended road transport, and the Tamdin Valley branch railway. In the direction of reducing air pollution, the Prime Minister and other officials were informed about the implementation of the TPP-5 thermal power plant, the project to increase distributed heat sources, the Selbe city housing project, the Bayankhoshuu city housing project, the Wall Material housing project, and the waste-to-energy project. At the same time, Prime Minister L. Oyun-Erdene emphasized the importance of prioritizing these projects and instructed relevant officials to improve their work coordination and immediately resolve the pressing issues.
